Marten Meibaum (1998) is an Estonian multi-instrumentalist. His recent performances as a cellist include Friedrich Gulda’s cello concerto with the wind orchestra of Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and opening night at Jazzkaar festival in Tallinn. He is also a member of the orchestra at Estonian National Opera.
As a chamber musician he recently won second prize in Kaliningrad competition for outstanding musicality for Glinka’s Grand Sextet (with Tallinn Grand Sextet) and established Cellaritone trio (cello/baritone, accordion and guitar) which aims to take classical music to new settings.
He also regularly performs as an organist and is a sought-after church musician. In March he spent a week in Het Orgelpark in Amsterdam attending masterclasses with Gijs Van Schoonhoven He has studied cello with prof Nicholas Jones in Manchester, UK and is now finishing master studies in Tallinn with prof Henry-David Varema.
