Starts at 4:00pm
Mick Lally TheatreInformed by manuscript images, Renaissance dance treatises and modern traditional dances, Lise will teach medieval forms of dance such as the round dance (the carole) and the open-chain dance (the tresca). Moving into the Renaissance, Lise will teach some bransles, based on descriptions and music published by Thoinot Arbeau, and the formal processional dance, the pavane.
Vincenzo will accompany the dances on fiddle and flutes. However, since the dancer’s voice was often the only instrument available in the Middle Ages, we will occasionally try and sing to our own dancing!
A €5 donation will be requested at the door.
